This made it nearly impossible to propagate changes made by the German team to the French virtual mock-up and vice versa, and so there were several different design versions in use simultaneously.
Sounds strangely like the muckup that caused the demise of the
Fairchild Dornier 728 / 928 three years ago. Configuration control was a shambles; suppliers were building parts that were obsoleted by under-the-table design changes.
