Trains Thameslink
An update on previous questions and answers about Luton train services serving the airport.
My moles advise me that the Thameslink operation of First Capital Connect is expecting to have all 86 class 319 units under its control for Thameslink trains by December 2007 at the latest. (I won't bore this forum with how this is going to be achieved other than its quite a complex cascade of trains with other operators.) There has is as yet no public announcement on this subject.
It means an uplift of about 12-13 units on top of the fleet already used by FCC/TL and *should* mean several more - including all peak hour trains - to be eight coaches.
As far as I am aware there are no other siginificant fleet or service changes in the near future. The 319s appearing in First corporate laser effect colours are little more than cosmetic jobs.
