The Government wants a major expansion of housing on green belt land to the west of Stevenage
4.6 miles final approach to Luton's runway 26 or east of Luton's runway 08 to be precise. And yes, the airport operator at Luton did raise an objection.
Also planned is massive housing expansion in the area between Leighton Buzzard and Milton Keynes - strategically located underneath Heathrow's WOBUN departure route and Luton's OLNEY departure route (information about which is freely available and in the public domain).
As I said, there's a completely separate thread here, about planning permissions being granted with little or no regard to nearby airports and airspace routes...
Perhaps if the Government's Home Information Pack initiative actually sees the light of day, it may enable propective purchasers to elicit this sort information before signing on the dotted line but even so, given the madness that's now endemic, they would still probably complain and have their complaints supported by politicians, councils, community groups, etc., and upheld in the courts.
