Having spent 18 glorious (and wind swept) months there almost 30 years ago I can thoroughly recommend the place if walking, bird life and solitude floats your boat. Four boat journeys for a hair cut if you could be bothered, three days snowed in on Norwick hill and the SAC medic castrating the CO's Labrador so the next incumbent would adopt him (the dog not the medic). Happy days. The sub-aqua diving exped back there some 10 years later is best left forgotten however; 'we counted them all out - it was a worrying long time till we counted them all in again!'
