I think you are both right. Ive flown many different Boeings and AirBuses over the last 20 odd years, and been an instructor for quite a few of those.

The only thing I consider myself to be an expert on is how to stuff things up!
So, maybe I can help others not to fall into the same traps/mistakes.

However much I detest flying with pedantic SOP fixating sons of bitches as instructors, I know that they make me work harder and some one has to enforce the rules. I seldom carry a grudge longer than a few years though, even if I wasn't fully cofigured at 3000ft for an S/E NPA app with low fuel and a Cadet Pilot who needed help to find the checklist......

Different trainees respond differently to different trainers, and as all pilots are not the same, nor should their instructors be.
