tasteless comment about the bullets. the ysytem in the us is different to that in europe so that would be a first. seniority determines everything, including roster and vacation. if you're juniour you probably end up with vacation when no one else wants it. your roster is determined by your seniority, same deal, you get your choice according to your seniority. if you're very junior you end up on reserve. it's not like europe where standby is something that can be on the most senior person's schedule. long haul doesn't have the same attraction as people's quality of life can be very good is they are senior on an airplane. example is the B737 in ord last this month, a senior guy could end up with 18 days off and make as much as a junior guy on a better paying aircraft who is on reserve. if you do apply there are sources for this and other information. p.s. there are a lot of senior guys who opt for being a senior f/o rather than a captain. quality of life is the issue and its different horses for different courses.
