OK so the general thing is that this is the norm - I thought it might be, and hence my question here.
In it's inflight magazine (yes I read it - it's a long flight.......) Garuda mad a lot of talk about wanting to imrpove it's name as a brand.
Perhaps they might take a look at this thread and see that part of attaining a great brand is looking after the finer points like the whole crew smoking in flight thing ????????????????
Seriously the flight was great as well as it's affordable business class - my only comment is that being woken up by the CREW smoking in flight detracted somewhat.
Still, Garuda are selling the only direct business class seats between Australia and Bali, so I am likely to be a return customer !!!!!
