I was speaking to one of the brass this morning and he indicated that the number of LAE's leaving was less than 15 going to various places eg Emirates, Haeco etc etc. The numbers that you have heard I would imagine will include the sheetmetal guy's that are going to Avalon and some cone and to a lesser extent greaser technicians also destined for Avalon.

You are correct with the comparison in wages when I came up here in '93 the wages were much better and included a CPF component that no longer exists unless you are on local terms.

SIAEC's latest offering to expats was around the S$11000, info received from other expats, over or under depending on the coverage. B777/Trent and A320/V2500 are the most sought after licences at the moment with the B744/PW4000 combo after that. they still have a fair few expats on contract through the likes of Mil-Com and a lesser amount on SIAEC contracts.

The unfortunate thing with the QF LAME's is the restricted coverage that most, not all, have. Predominately in Sydney SIT line staff are the only few with the Triple/Trent and your domestic brothers playing with Jet-Star A320/V2500's. So unless you negotiate through the contract companies the money could be less than quoted.

The workload is fairly high on line when I was there I would be doing 10-14 jets a shift (12hrs) ranging from old Airbus's to B777 so you had to be on the ball and know your aircrafts as they don't take kindly to delays especially ones caused by lack of knowledge on systems etc.

I must admit that I did on the whole enjoy my numerous years there and found that once use to the way they want you to operate the stress level went down dramatically.
