There are several thousand ex-service pilots flying for the airlines, so it can hardly be seen as an unrealistic prospect. However, Virgin would not be any kind of a prospect with those hours, but
British Airways might. I'm not sure if they still run the transition scheme for military pilots; try your Station Education Centre for more information, or contact BA directly.
