Before my last 11 years at one of the "big 3" U.S. carriers I flew corporate/charter in Lear/Hawker/Gulstream bizjets. In my opinion, UAL's move is one of the most ridiculous corporate moves I have ever heard of. I would be less shocked if McDonalds' announced a 1 billion dollar chain of exclusive restaurants catering to millionaires.
AA ventured into this field and left just a few years ago. That was even after years of owning Combs/Gates FBO's with their infrastructer and personell experience behind them. UAL is going to start from scratch.
