I don't want to get too involved in debating the finer points of this, but I accept what you both say. If you scan the forums you will see plenty of examples of somebody informing others about recruitment or job vacancies and it is usually clear that the information is in itself the subject for a thread. On the other hand there are plenty of posters who try their luck and try and place a free ad on the forums with an "e-mail me" or "PM me" type rider on the end.

In between, it becomes a subjective judgement call. If it reads or sounds like an advert then it is likely to be treated in that category. If it reads or sounds like general information then it is likely to remain in situ subject to the overall management veto of course.

We spend a lot of time trawling for spam and free advertising on the forums and removing it. It is inevitable that sometimes well intentioned and perhaps modifyable posts get swept up in the process. We do understand the distinction between posting some useful advice or information for job seekers, and the placing of an obvious or covert advertisement for free. Unfortunetaly it isn't always possible to apply the time to a post to make a more in depth appraisal and as a result it occaisionally becomes a casualty of the process.
