Was at a USAF base near San Antonio once and saw what looked like a 1950s attempt at an A380 double pax deck aircraft it only had half its wings and was look very sad indeed.

This was a one-off pax/transport variant of the B-36 (six piston engine pusher, plus 2 jet engines

, bomber used by the USAAF in the 50's).
The Convair Model 37 was the civil version, but never flew. Looks impressive, though! Over 200 pax and the first double decker!
