Going to a school with a big name is not going to guarentee you a job. So from that point save your money. However, I would not go to a cheaper school to save money with a view to buying a type rating thinking that a rating would guarentee you a job!

If you local school is good, well then fair enough, if you can complete the course in a reasonable time like you would with an AB-Initio school (aprox 14 months) then fair enough. You don't want to have to drag through a fATPL over 3 years etc. So get it done with in a reasonable amount of time without blowing a massive hole in your pocket like I did!

At the end of the day, you will get the same licence as another guy that went to a 'big school', and you may even do a better job than him. Finally yes it probably looks better on a CV, (a bigger well know school) but at the end of the day, if two guys go for a sim check and there's one job, they'll take the guy that does the better job on the day, not what school they went to.

On a final note Lufthansa seem quite nicely priced. FTE is now €93+ and NO job either. So how will you pay that off unemployed!
