I guess you mad an error in your calculation:
15000dhs(2300 pounds) now they start on circa 18000dhs(2700 pounds)
I believe you used the current exchange rate for both! You'd have to use the then to date exchange rate!
When I started to work for EK in 2000 with 80 hours flying I'd get around 1800 Dollars. That time exchange rate to the Euro was 1$ = 1,2 Euro --> 1800 Dollars were around 2150 Euros... 4 years later though my salary increased (around 2100 Dollars) I only received 1800 Euros (and that included the exchange rate protection!)
I guess one of the major problems for many at EK is the weak $. A few years ago the salary was very good and worth coming to DXB for, but now ...
