We used to have to do this at MYT, we stopped for a while and then it was reintroduced. You would all just count your cash at the the briefing and it would logged on the flight report. Understand why it's done, and I also understand peoples embarrasment.
I have to say I didn't have a problem with it, as I saw it as a positive thing, even on the day I looked like a total pauper with only 25p in my wallet!
