I totally agree. The credit for duties other than flying can only work if the credit is based on the actual monthly flying (credit) we are expected to achieve. The company is winning on this one.

Not just ADOPT uses blocking window. It is the standard for almost every rostering system. I would think 3-5 hr window would be impossible if "every" crew has to fit the window as EK minimum credit for a trip would bust this right away. Actually a larger bid window helps in flexibility to satisfy bidding.
The difference is that EK bases this window on the amount of work against the number (read shortage) of pilots to do the work; EK has long and shorthaul rosters mixed; and EK have CCQ crew all in the same rosters.
Other companies are forced to hire crew when they are projected to exceed these published windows on the regular basis, and have split out like flying.
