When 50 KIWI F/a’s from the most senior down were told (not asked), to be BusinessFirst F/A’s, as occurred late 2005, one finds it difficult ,at first, to understand why the BF selection process for Australian based L/H F/A’s is “merit “ based with a very large number of applicants rejected and told they aren’t good enough .
A rather insulting slap in the face to the decent and capabable F/A’s who had a career plan mapped out because unfortunately this won't look good on the CV when ,sometime in the future , they apply for the CSS vacancy and the interviewer ,the latest visitor fresh through the door ,opens the file and sees “rejected for BFA”.
“Well if they can’t cut the mustard in Business and First how can we give them the CSS job ? “ I hear them thinking.
No worries.
The calibre of F/A across the Tasman is obviously so superior to anything we can dish up here in Sydney that QF have a ready made ,cost effective solution to future promotion dilemmas.. All future applicants for promotion must shift to NZ and Jetconnect.
Dispense with the whole application , interview, selection hoo haa ,they have already done it in Auckland so the precedent is there.
Just make all NZ based F/A’s the Chiefs and Sydney L/H can be the injuns..
You get two for the price of one .
Heck why stop there and why wait for the EbA ?.
Extend the largesse to BKK as well.
Three for the price of one .
It’s a no brainer.
