The sad fact is, that despite their leaders' doleful expressions of condolence, (which I believe in many cases is more self preservation than sincere), there will be quite a few people from that part of the world, when safely out of sight of the TV cameras, who will still be almost exultant in what has happened to the US.
To many from that part of the world, the US is perceived to be an overbearing bully. Unfortunately, when the US reprisals start, (as they will), no matter how restrained they are and how well documented the guilt of the targets may be, whatever the US does will only make them to be seen by many as an even bigger bully.
My main concern is that so many of the young (and not so young) people of Middle Eastern descent in Australia seem not to consider themselves to be Australian. Citizenship and the generous handouts so many of them receive is a two way street.
Surely if you move to another country, legally or illegally, you should want to become part of that country, not transplant a small slice of the problems and the hatreds you escaped from to an all too familiar ghetto you set up in it?
