Short Haul EBA
Hi Folks found this on the web this afternoon, its the questions and answer, so they are getting team leaders in short haul instead of the second senior! hmmm you thoughts
Shorthaul EBA7: Q&A
1. Pay Increase
Why is the salary backdated till 1 July 2005 when EBA 6 only expired in September
2005?
The last salary increase that shorthaul crew members received was the adjustment made on
1 July 2004.
Does the salary increase apply to Duty Travel Allowance (DTA)?
No, DTA is adjusted in line with the Australian Tax Office (ATO) ruling that is handed down in
April each year. The salary increase however will apply to other allowances such as route
pay, bands, trainer, higher duties, accommodation in lieu, disability, miscellaneous expense,
grooming and initial posting.
2. Flexible Work Arrangement
Does the 100% guarantee on FWA releases apply to CSMs?
No, this guarantee only applies to full time permanent flight attendants.
3. Permanent Part-Time
If I elect to take up a permanent-part time position, how long will it take before I am
converted to part-time status?
It is expected that the first group of conversions will be planned in the first bid period
following the EBA certification. At this stage, specific information regarding the number of
conversions to occur in each bid and subsequent timing has not yet been determined.
4. Reserve Line Bids
Will CSMs be affected by the changes in the reserve line bidding rules?
No, the changes in reserve line bidding will only apply to the Flight Attendant (FA) category.
5. Bidding Window
How is the payment determined for the extra hours worked due to the changes in the
full-time bidding window?
Where the roster for a full-time crew member is built above 123 hours, the hours retained
above 123 will be paid in the same way as the pick up of hours under FWA. Therefore this
extra payment only applies to ‘actual’ extra hours worked/retained.
6. Crew Meals
Do the changes in inflight crew meals affect ‘regional flying’ flights?
No, the changes in crew meals only apply to domestic flights crewed solely by shorthaul crew.
All international flights will be based on the longhaul meal policy.
7. Arrangements for Second Senior / Team Leader
If there is more than one crew member trained as ‘team leader’ on a particular flight,
who is deemed as the team leader?
If more than one flight attendant on a flight has successfully completed the ‘team leader’
training, there will be a discussion between the eligible crew and the CSM with the aim of
ensuring recency is maintained for all crew who have completed the training. Where there is
not a recency issue, the most senior trained crew member will have the first right of refusal.
What happens in the event that none of the crew members on a particular flight have
completed the ‘team leader’ training?
The “team leader” role will be assigned to the most senior permanent crew member.
Do you need to be trained as a team leader on the narrow-bodied aircraft?
Yes, you will need to be trained to become a “team leader” to operate on both the widebodied
and narrow-bodied aircraft.
Will the “Team Leader” role also be available to MAM casuals?
Yes, MAM casuals will also be eligible to apply for the “team leader” role.
8. Right to Request – Additional Family Leave
Does the additional family leave entitlement apply to crew members who commenced
maternity leave prior to EBA certification?
The extension of family leave from 52 weeks to 104 weeks following the birth the child will
apply to crew members who commence maternity leave after the EBA certification date.
9. Back of Clock
Do the new ‘back of clock’ limits apply to hours assigned/picked up from CRAM and
FWA?
No, the limit of 4 ‘back of clocks’ only apply at a CAM roster build level (i.e. planned basis). It
does not apply to the hours assigned/pick up during the CRAM/FWA process or during the
operational month.
10. Return Option for ex Long Haul crew
I am an ex-longhaul CSM that recently transferred to the shorthaul division. If I choose
to return to longhaul under the one-off return option, will I retain my seniority and
category?
Yes, you will return to the longhaul division as a CSM and go back to the pay point you would
have been on if you had not transferred to the shorthaul division.
