The general feeling amongst people is that with no time on type, a TR is not going to get you anywhere. It did five years ago, perhaps even two years ago, but today is a different story.

But, there seems to be an awful lot of guys and gals getting their 100 hrs on type, so I can see that, at sometime in the future, the 100 hrs on type will be the absolute minimum.

500 hrs on type seems to be the magic number, and if you look at the ads from agencies, then you'll notice the number 500 crops up everywhere. Hence, unless your TR has some very good connections, you could be joining the end of another long queue.

There is a get-out clause to all of this. If you know people well in an airline, you can circumnavigate all that nonsense and expense.
