good point that there in a lot of pointless information in the PPL airlaw. but its the people who just learn the confuser pass the exam then never touch a book on airlaw or look into it again.
at the moment i have pages and pages of notes of airlaw, just notes, of rules, so its easer to look over key points then read 100s and 100s of pages

Because some people do not absorb the information well in the raw format that seems to figure in most of the information required for these exams. CAA exams have way to much that is little relevance to actual flying, the further you go into the levels the more noticeble this becomes.
So some people choose to study then question recognise, take the exams and then polish the knowledge in the real world. It is not very helpfull to have a head full of pretty useless facts if you cant fly the aircraft for toffee or make good judgement calls.
Given the choice of a competant pilot are a swot I know who I would fly with.
