Grogmonster,. .Thanks for the link. I was aware that the Ansett Historical Group operated and maintained VH-ABR during recent years, in fact it never left the Ansett "stable" so to speak. The group is made up of dedicated volunteers who maintain and fly the aircraft and, up to the demise of Ansett, was given some maintenance support. I imagine the ownership of the aircraft remains with the remnants of Ansett and wonder what fate awaits it at the hands of the administrators and creditors.
When I gained command on the DC3 I remember noting that VH-ABR was two years younger than me. It wore many different paint schemes in it's time such as ANA, Ansett- ANA, Airlines of South Australia and Ansett but I don't recall seeing it in Airlines of NSW colours although it most probably was at some stage.
