Fair comment and I do agree that it may not have come across as all that funny to the great unwashed out there and sadly there would be many who actually took it literally as read. Although being on the ABC there is some hope of a more edumacated audience.
I saw a similar one done recently on the Showjumping and Olympic horse scene which was equally hilarious as I have a brother in Law who is an ex Olympic rider and now Olympic and international Show jumping judge. The Jilly Cooper books are really true.
But it didn't stop an equally furious uproar amongst the horsey mob. Quite fun watching the uproar really.
Interestingly "The Life of Brian" was actually banned in some countries including the US as heretical and blasphemous.
