Talking TV show Mon 7th Jan

I would like to recommend the show "People Like Us" on ABC at 21.30 Mon 7th Jan. The airline industry is featured in this episode. I saw it in the UK and it is very well done. This show was the topic of a very "firey" thread in R&N some months ago.

Thanks Reddo.

Do you know if it is a documentary type program or a'dramatzed' program, or even just another serial???

Thanks again, I'll be sure to watch.

Thumbs up

It's a brilliant send up of the documentary style of "airport" shows. It's worth watching (and recording) just to see the detail that they go to.
I found it funny. Maybe others won't.

G'day Reddo,

If it's anything like the other episodes of "People Like Us" it's bound to be a riot

For those who havent yet seen it. Think of Aussie shows like "Frontline" or "The Games" and that should give you some idea of what to expect.

Listen closely to the very strange observations and statements by the narrator Roy Mallard (not his real name).

Here's the thread Reddo mentioned:
http://www.pprune.org/ubb/NonCGI/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=014440&p=

Can't wait, 'specially as the bootleg video of it never made it to Australia! Thanks for trying though Reddo!

DON'T MISS IT! Tape it too, 'cos you need to watch it a few times or you'll miss bits.

Reddo, you're a legend! Thanks for the tip, I've just watched it, and loved it, especially the "B767"! It was a hoot from start to finish.

Kind regards,

TheNightOwl.

Good fun ... but surely "Flying High" is the standard by which such things are judged ? I would still stick by the movie ...

Just great, lots of laughs though I was surprised that somebody else (BA?) use a zero reader F/D.

I particularly got a laugh out of the Flight Deck sequences and the comment from the F/O to the F/A re-the Harness adjustment

Cheers for the heads up Reddo

Some of it horrified me!
I just hope that the flight deck sequences for the takeoff and landing were done in a simulator and not in actual flight. Whatever happened to the "sterile cockpit" concept? I for one would not have put up with the inane comments and distractions coming from the jump seat at a critical stage of the operation. Funny - yes; safe - no.

DD, if you know about concepts like 'sterile cockpit' then it is a surprise you did not notice that the '767' flight deck had 4 engines etc. I find the show even funnier now knowing there are people out there who thought it was 'real'.

Just saw it

BWWWWAAAHHHHH!

DD,

On the off chance your comments were serious I think you may have missed the point that People Like Us is a p1ss take and not a documentary. Pretty obvious that it wasn't in a real flight when the runway at Paris didn't get any bigger in the cockpit window
