There has only been one case of any action taken against a QF Captain as a result of an Airshow, in the Jumbo era, and that was at Oskosh.

An Ansett Captain in the crowd complained to the Department of Changing Names that the Qantas B747-238 violated the 500 ft limit (that didn't apply to this Airshow performance, but what the hell, it's always open season on Qantas) during the flyby, and in all the best of Australia aviation tradition, there was a great panic in regulatory circles " that somebody must have approved somebody to do something", and they shouldn't have !!!

It was a pathetic little episode all 'round, and reflected no credit on anyone involved in the fracas that followed the "crowd complaint".

I'm pleased to say that it didn't stop the "offending" ( allegedly, he never did violate ANY rule, policy or approval, but why let the facts spoil a good witch hunt) achieving very senior rank in the company.

Tootle pip !!!
