I thought they already scrapped in-flight meal!
On my last two flights on QF, all we (the economy pax) got were bikkies in a package that stated "Bikkies" (as if we can't tell they're bikkies and not smoked salmon) and a drink in a 'splash your drink everywhere' container (I can't remember if it was water or orange juice) in a sandwich box. They were BNE-MEL and MEL-BNE. On one one of the sectors, the PA said it was "brunch". My thought was "What was that!?"
Even during PMS, I don't eat bikkies for brunch!
I don't mind not getting any meal on the flight as such. There is no need for the passengers to be fed on short flights. Besides, a lot of the in-flight meals taste so terrible that we're not missing anything.
However, on a flight of 2 hours or more, I'd like to see some snacks for sale on board, like Virgin do. (I.e. I would rather pay for something half decent than be given bikkies in a sandwich box.)
