There are many Australians in the Auckland base and most of them are not strike breakers....
Strike breaker intake were people who had applied for jobs with Qantas in OZ and were never given the opportunity to begin their flying caree. Subsequently as an alternative some of them were offered AKL base and accepted this offer.
Yes the conditions are difficult and not the way we would like them to be, however I find it inapprpiate to say that they as severe as people say....

By Far this is more opportunity for us to progress our careers as previously with Adecco we were contracted and unable to sustain any job security or hope of change or progressment as Flight Attendants, however we now work for a wholly owned subsidiary of Qantas and have better staff travel conditions.

Many people leave because they are unhappy after 5 or 6 years in AKL base and have seen many changes with contractor to jetconnect such as small things, Eg: we now passenger in Economy instead of Business when positioning as crew on tasman and domestic flights... I am sure that this is not the reason they have left however only small changes have occured since the changeover and if anything things have became better and more promosing...
Yes the salary may be below the norm... Allowances do deffinately help however u must always remember that we chose to be here and take the job and know what we are in for... If we leave they just recruit one of the hundreds of people who want our jobs...

For all you aussies coming over.... It is only 3hrs away from OZ and u always pass by OZ when going on a trip apart from AKL to LAX. Kiwi people are lovely and we always welcome newcomers to our land...
