PTH Needs Tarmac
Like all things at LBA, nothing is certain and everything is subject to change, however I know the plans to move CSZ have been in place for at least two years.
To give you an idea of the space available, if you think of the first floor food village, that is a simmilar size available to develop the new CSZ.
BMI and KLM crew rooms and also the Servisair offices will need to be moved. There is a void space between the offices landside and the airside arrivals walkway. This is the area in question. I understand the plan is to clear the offices and a new roof will be built over the void area to house the new CSZ.
The new CSZ will house at least 4 scanners and the proposed development would include two new escalators and lifts to reach the new CSZ, which would be located where the present taxi rank stands.
The development will free up an area on the ground level for an additional retail option.
REF the terminal frontage, the work carried out the last time was never completed because of concerns over traffic build ups, additional highway measures will be required to handle additional growth medium term anyway.
