The info about the number of 747's in CX's fleet is hard to be compiled and figured out. But, I think the reason why there's so much contradictory info out there is because some numbers include the wet-leased acft to Air Hong Kong and some don't. Also, some mix the 747F fleet all together, giving the false impression that they are all 744s.
Here's why I got compiled so far:
- 744 PAX: 19
- 744F: 6
- 742F: 7
- 742F: 3 (wet-leased to Air Hong Kong)
- 744SF (Special Freighter): 8 (coming from SQ, 2 delivered, but I don't know how many are already in service)
I hope this helps. And yes, they do ask these trivia-type questions in the interview. The better prepared, the better your chances are, of course.
