I think the original point is totally getting missed. It's not that any award is not worth getting but that when boasting of the awards one has received, it's important to keep things in perspective.
If you win the local chamber of commerce award for landing in a large open field in great weather and then fly a slightly injured person to the airport where an ambulance picks them up, that's okay. What's not okay is telling everyone that you were decorated for a rescue mission, observing that they assume you're some hero, and then leaving it at that.
