The BBC claim the man wasn't particularly young... making comments/jokes about security are stupid at the best of times but with the dust from last Thursday yet to settle it's just downright insensitive also...

BBC NEWS REPORT FROM BBC ONLINE:

A 25-year-old man has been arrested over a security alert at an airport as passengers waited to board a flight.
Crews had to off-load luggage from the aircraft at Nottingham East Midlands Airport after a comment was allegedly about a security risk.

It affected a Thomas Cook Airbus-A320 bound for Palma from the Leicestershire airport at 0700 BST on Tuesday.

Passengers had not boarded the plane and were not at risk, an airport spokesman said.

He said in a statement: "Nottingham East Midlands Airport can confirm that investigations are currently under way into a security incident that occurred at around 7am involving a Thomas Cook Aircraft to Palma.

Aircraft examination

"The airport remains fully operational. Passengers are advised to check-in as normal. The safety and security of our passengers and staff remain our highest priorities at all times."

Leicestershire Police said an examination of the aircraft had taken place and a 25-year-old man had been arrested in connection with making a false statement.

A spokeswoman for the force added: "It is stressed, however, that the arrest has not been made under terrorism legislation."

The plane has since taken off.
