Depends a bit where you want to end up. If it is or may be the UK, then you have the problem that the CAA effectively does not recognise anyone else's licences (except in theory other JAA states). Even if you go to the CAA with lots of experience and an ICAO ATPL(H)they require you to jump through most of their technical knowledge hoops and do flight tests. Even if you go elsewhere to start, if you want to end up in the UK it will be hard work to convert.
