Basic economic facts -
I have spent $NZ 38,000 on equipment and every spare minute for the last two years either researching or working on the content of that which you claim should not be mentioned.....
To date I have grossed $NZ 6,000 in sales.
It was not written to make money and probably never will in a low circulation market. I have failed to get a publisher to take it on as they either want to give me US$1 in royalty (72,000 copies must be sold to get my money back)or declined it because the market is too small.
Many will attest that I have given copies away (50 at print cost of $NZ 118 per copy)in the hope that it may do some good. Some of the content is even given away free...
Which brings me to the website.
The website is NOT commercial per se, and costs me in the order of $NZ 4,000 PA, plus the work of providing the content. I do NOT get paid per 'Hit'. The quiz section alone does a lot for PPL safety (proven by the amount of marking requests I get from all over the globe)and the only chances I have of getting some revenue in to defray those associated costs are (a) to try and get a few selected advertisers to contribute to that(which has hiterto failed) and (b) to sell the book...
However, the site is crammed with free links to all sorts of information sites (including this one)that must benefit (a) the user and (b) the owners of those linked sites.
Ouf of the 2,700 visits the site has had had since 20/01/01 It has sold ONE copy of the book.
I do not beleive that the small amount of
commercial benefit to me(if any, considering the above) negates what I have put into this forum.
Finally, on the whole, I have enjoyed my particpation in Rotorheads and gained an awful lot from a large number of contributors, for which I am thankful.
