Keep at it Lu - a great family friend of ours has recently had similar news.
In the UK (and I guess elsewhere) bone marrow donations are in great demand. Inspired by our friend (although not necessarily for his personal advantage) we are arranging a local donation session with the nearby RAF base. Anyone wanting to organise something similar please PM me for details.
There is a particular need (in the UK) for donations from fit males 18-40, and for those from "ethnic minorities". Further details are

If you are already a blood donor, there is a way the system can get your "marrow type" from your blood we believe. .
Sorry if I've appeared to highjack the thread, but I've read and appreciated Lu's contributions for years - his story was so similar to our chum that I couldn't not post this.
