I went for Bristow's sponsorship in the early 90's - ending up with a CPL(H) and being paid for it seemed pretty good.
Didn't work out - 400 applicants for 40 interviews for 5 jobs - got an interview and fluffed it.
Never mind, I'm now in the position to be able to self-finance my CPL(H) because I'm in IT - funny how the world turns.
If you go into it - make damn sure your eyes are wide open, have a fallback plan, and think about getting dual qualified asap in case you get bored. There are some fun jobs there, like the Coastguard SAR stuff, but you'll need hours and hours to go for them.
If you want more current info, ring up Bristow's head office, or even better speak to a base like Dyce or North Denes ( if that's still open ) and get genned up.
