LBMF, I'll apologize in advance if I've misread the tone of you're previous posts but why don't you stop your whining and just read the link on Airmech again. The post by Bill McDonald dated 25 Jan, answers most of you're questions with respect to the ALAE , its achievements and the benefits of joining.. .BA currently do not recognise the ALAE so the ALAE can hardly be blamed for the creation of the RMA/BMA grade. In fact I don't blame the union for getting the unlicensed guys a pay rise just wished they had done the same for us.. .Personally, I joined the ALAE just over a year ago and although I am also currently in the AMICUS ( formally AEEU & MSF ) it is only because some representation is better than none at all. At BA there is a growing feeling of discontent & disillusion with the present union ( just ask the guys who will be losing their jobs at Manchester what they think). They have done very little for the LAEs in recent years as we are in the minority although A4-Heli is right about being united. A united union is a strong union and we would all be in a much better position if both licensed & unlicensed guys stuck together and joined an organisation which is solely for engineers unlike the AMICUS. . .If you want to make a difference and help redress the current situation we find ourselves in then why not join. For the equivalent of £1 a week you even get your own copy of the ALAE magazine rather than borrowing one for free. . .And another thing why are you so anti Airmech? I read both PPRuNe and Airmech and can't see a problem with having more than one site with which to air ones views & enter into discussion with other like minded professionals. If you feel that bad about Airmech and that you must remain loyal to PPRuNe then fine, don't go there.. .. .If you want to join then use this link for the application forms...... .http://www.lae.mcmail.com/pages/FrameSet1.htm. . . .. . All right, but apart from the sanitation, the medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, a fresh water system, and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us? . . . . [ 22 March 2002, 11:48: Message edited by: Ali Crom ]
