The reason you are held there is so you don't interfere with the glide path signal. If it's possible to hold you at G1, then we'll instruct you to taxy to G1. So telling us you've reached G2 is, in itself, a waste of r/t time.
That whole paragraph of your post is about wasted r/t initiated by a pilot.
