Stayed in Bournemouth for nearly 6 months during flying training. Also had similarly restricted budget.
I stayed at Highbury Hotel in boscombe some 10 inutes away. Owned by a chap named John, Rooms ok and evening meals provided. Quite enjoyed my stay there.
A few chaps decided it would be wise to rent an apartment and cater for themselves, they ended up spending a small fortune.
Anyway give John a call, you'll probably find other pilots and controllers there.
