Without wishing to wind this up...How else do you expect to be searched other than by hand?
explosives don't set off detectors and a wand certainly wont find anything non metalic...
Being frisked is about all that is left.
Maybe creating a fuss will get the place of search changed, maybe it will only result in you being banned from going airside....irrespective the searches will continue and of course you run the risk of turning a perception of crews being targeted into reality.
