I applied to a major airline who recently advertised for F/O's with 500 hrs. Upon emailing the recruitment manager a week or so later, I got the reply 'I have received more than 1500 applications'.......
I guess theres quite a lot of us out there....
I suppose the airline you're talking about is BMI Regional?
Anyway, not the point I was going to make, my point is that the good man is asking about pilots in the UK..I know it's not exactly the best question the man could ask, since UK airlines do not only recruit UK pilots. For example I also applied to this UK airline, and I'm not from the UK, and I don't think I'm the only non-UK citizen applying for UK jobs
so the 1500 jobless pilots in the UK could well be the correct figure, but there are lots more outside of the UK who can work
in the UK, which makes the market just a little bit worse for you guys
