Psst! Blunder - the A430-600 DOES use RR engines, currently undergoing flight testing at OneTwoLoose. As for the thrust rating, it still won't beat the 747-400, the Trent 552 engines are derated to 52,000-56,000lbs in on-wing trim, although the certification thrust will be 60,000lbs, after final certification testing in Derby, a mere 550lbs more than the -400 engines. Surely good news for anyone flying the A340-300 and clearing the perimeter-fence by a few inches?
