ironbutt, while to you, PPRuNe may seem very "union-orientated", I have found it the converse, and was wonder why Woomera decided to padlock the 1989 thread ref. the Australian pilots' Dispute...so there you go, each of us on different sides of the fence share the one opinion of PPRuNe - they (the moderators) are obviously sympathetic to the other side's views!!

Perhaps you are envious of the solidarity shown by the CX pilots, tin@rse, or maybe you were just brainwashed, and subsequently forced to do something you now regret.
Times continually change - and the CX pilots have been smart enough to change with the times, and have obviously been able to constantly re-evaluate, and re-update their thinking and moves - I guess you could call it "guerilla" style tactics, whereas the management have only ONE move - intransigence, and the threat of termination of employment - with CX.

As so many other forced confrontations with pilots (eg. Continental, Eastern, Ansett, Ansett New Zealand, etc., etc.,) have shown, the pilots will quickly and easily move on to other positions, leaving their former employer to whither on the vine whilst they (the pilots) gain employment elsewhere.

Wake up CX managers - negotiation is by far the cheapest and most productive solution. You have the opportunity to deal with a group who are a known quantity.
