The policy throughout South Africa now is not quite as simple as Affirmative Action. The new policy is Black Empowerment. This roughly means that you cannot open or run a business of any sort unless you have, or take in, a black business partner. You do not need to be a rocket scientist to work out that, by extension, your friend is absolutely right and that she is going to get righter and righter. Applicants whose performance might not be up to scratch on testing day are, as I understand it, to be sent to Botswana for retesting. In the old days these sort of policies would have been called rascist.
