I am very curious about your asic check and medical.
Have you been told you are up to that stage?
Myself and several friends were told we were through to the next stage after our panel interview which was the reference check, and my assumption is the board review also.
Have you had a second email since the panel interview?
I have friends on the 11 month longhaul contracts at the moment. They are finishing shortly. They were offered the London base and declined the offer. They have been told their contracts aren't being renewed. They are also of the opinion that Qantas is overstaffed at the moment.
My personal opinion is if you would like to fly longhaul and don't care if it's only for a short time, then go for it.
If you're looking for permanent employment, why not stay where you are and apply for a cabin crew position when they become available at DJ.
You could always do the contract and apply to DJ for a cabin crew position when you finish up.
There seems to be a lot of movement within the cabin crew ranks. I also think there is natural attrition due to burn out. The girls and guys work very hard with lots of minimum rest.
I myself am pursuing another career and would love to spend my last year as cabin crew at Qantas.
Good luck whatever you decide.
There is a lovely expression that I always like to read when I feel I need the strength to take that leap of faith.
When I'm finding it hard to break out of my comfort zone.
"and the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom"
Remember whatever you decide, YOU are the master of your destiny!
