We can accept up to a 5 knot tailwind, providing the associated crosswind component is not more than 12 knots and the runway surface is dry. Outside those parameters and we must change. . .. .During the day time we are Westerly preferential because of the departure noise over London etc. At night time, providing we obey the above, the runway is decided on a strict rotation, designed to spread the noise.. .. .The irony is that we tend to land more traffic with a tailwind and so the rate usually drops once we have switched.. .. . <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="smile.gif" />
