The pettiness of inter-service rivalry have to be seen to be believed.
Still better than a combined armed forces (been there, done that, got the t-shirt).
It is bizarre to report that as of approximately 2000, non-aircrew in the Canadian air force (supply technicians, admin clerks, etc.) all wear half-assed brevets (with a runty sort of wing on the right side) on the right breast of their service tunics (see e.g.
this photo). Why?!
P.S. I don't know why the decision was made for all RAF rearcrew classifications to wear the same badge, but presumably this was done for reasons of simplicity and economy. If this is so, why not go the whole hog and replace all rearcrew
and pilot badges with one "aircrew" badge?
