Hate to be picky, but in the civil world, the job title is Air Traffic Control Assistant, not assistant ATCO. There, thats that sorted .. .As has been suggested, contact the Manager of ATS at each airfield directly. It seems to be rare that such vacancies are even advertised in local papers these days, candidates are often appointed from within the particular airport.. .Many airfields whose atc is not provided by NATS offer their atc assistants the opportunity (after a period of time), to train as atcos, alternatively you can be a career ATCA, either option is an excellent career.. .Although the normal educational qualification requirements are 5 or more O - Levels (or whatever they are these days), a sixth form or college education will not hurt. Other than that, the ability to work under pressure, common sense and aptitude to deal with the unusual are basic requirements, and obviously, a keen interest in aviation.. .Display this in your CV and covering letter and you should stand a reasonable chance of getting in somewhere.. .Follow up your letter with a telephone call, and be persistant without being a pain in the butt. . .Simple isn't it! . .Good Luck.
