I think Mikey the G would have said "why did he try to land! the plane has enough on one engine to go around! I would have gone to Kili! I would have stayed in the air! Forever!"

Good question Lone Falcon, I was thinking about it this weekend: the cross-wind was very bad and he didn't want to try a full approach on 1 engine in those gusty conditions. With the Manyara accident in mind, he just wanted to be back on the ground a.s.a.p. He just lost an engine, didn't know the cause, didn't want to risk it on the other one, thinking it could fail too. Kili? too far.
You would know what were the company recommendation/procedures for EFATO (on the Twotter) when you were there?

I am sure that if the wind would have been calm he would have kept it on the rwy.

Sijui!!
