I flew a trip recently with UPS' chief pilot for europe and she stated that when the Star contract comes up for renewal that UPS wants to put it up for competitive bidding. She implied that UPS was not entirely happy with Star, but would not elaborate on the reasons why. Since UPS owns the aircraft Star flies for us, it would be reasonable to assume that when the current Star routes needed upsizing that UPS would provide Star a UPS A300.
Could it be that Star is aquiring their own 767s in anticipation of possibly losing the UPS contract?
