Sadly you are quoting the exception to the rule and sadly you are correct but in the many years of serving this Company I have on many occasions gone the extra mile for no moral or financial remuneration.
The rules are there for a reason and like it or not we have to obey them until a compromise through dialogue and cooperation can be found.
To highligth the minority negative side of your colleagues doesn t help the cause for more understanding and cooperation there are two sides of the coin and unfortunately you chose the negative side of it.
We are (after all ) humans give and take IMHO would serve us all better than the status quo.
